About me

I am Kimberly Pena, a senior at Central Connecticut State University. I was raised and born in Manhattan, but I did move quite a lot, hence, attending ten different schools in a span from kindergarten to my senior year of high school. It was an experience that expanded my mind to different ideas. Moving was probably what opened my eyes to the world of media.

I would look into the news to know more about my community and the events taking place in it. I viewed the media as a safe ground, as in what you heard was true and what you saw was the reality. My opinion has now changed. After learning all the imagery manipulation that goes on in journalism and how stories may not be the whole story, you begin to second guess on what is true in the news. Is the media being honest with us? It’s hard to tell. However, it is our job as the next generation of journalists, to fix the mistrust between the public and us.

What I love most in the world is sports. Baseball is a sport that has always spoken to me. I mean, come on, it’s one of America’s oldest sports. The history is rich and it is a sport where it is always evolving. There is so much conversation to be said in baseball and so many opinions that need to be heard. Sports will always remain a fun conversation where people all around the world can come into the conversation. My passion lies there and so does my future.
